Peat Free Gardening from Pro-Grow –

The professional way forward

Recent pressure from Government and environmentalists now demands that peat free alternatives for horticultural use must be found and the gardening public, both professional and amateur alike, persuaded to use them.

As professional landscapers, gardeners and garden designers we all have a duty to protect the environment but often find that the “Green” alternatives promoted are neither proficient in their ability to cope with the demands of large landscaping projects or simply do not offer the same results as, in this case, peat based soil or lawn conditioners.

Pro-Grow produced, after over seven years of research and development, by Veolia Environmental Services is a Soil Association and PAS100 Certified range of soil and lawn conditioners made entirely from recycled plant material under the most rigorous quality standards. It is a range of products that protects the environment whilst offering a viable alternative for commercial use. Soils ranging from heavy clays to light sands and those disturbed or damaged by construction or, re-designing of the landscape, can be transformed by the addition of Pro-Grow Peat Free Soil Conditioner.

Pro-Grow provides the vital organic matter and slow release nutrients that rejuvenate the soil needed to recreate a sound rooting environment resulting in successful replanting schemes and landscaping.

How does Pro-Grow work?

* Increasing air circulation
* Enhancing drainage and drought resistance
* Increasing levels of total and plant available nutrients
* Reducing the risk of soil erosion and nutrient leach
* Increasing heat absorption and temperature retention and reducing disease pressure.

Pro-Grow reduces the need for bagged or commercial fertilisers and can help reduce plant mortality, giving the additional benefit of improved margins through savings in fertiliser and replanting costs.

Typical Pro-Grow Analysis

Nitrogen 1.3% Pro-Grow is analysed regularly by
independent laboratories and a full
copy of the most recent analysis is
available on request.
Phosphorus 0.25%
Potassium 0.75%
PH 8.0%

How to use
Pro-Grow for Bedding and Turfing
For best results work 2-3 inches of Pro-Grow into the top 6-9 inches of soil. This combination will greatly improve the performance of shallow rooted plants and grasses. Pro-Grow has good moisture retention capacity and will therefore reduce watering requirements and plant stress.

Trees and Shrubs
For best results mix one part Pro-Grow with one part soil. This combination will create the ideal conditions for heavy root development ensuring a higher success rate for the young tree or shrub.

Top Dressing
For lawns, sports fields and golf courses. Being relatively low in nitrogen Pro-Grow will not cause excessive growth, but will still add vital nutrients and humus to the turf.

Benefits

* Provides nutrients vital to plant health and growth
* Improves soil fertility and moisture retention
* Breaks down heavy clay soils, adds humus to sandy soils
* Tree and shrub planting mix
* Soil conditioning
* Turfing and Top Dressing
* Fruit and Vegetable growing
